Ukraine Hit By Russia’s Deadliest Strike Of 2026? 78 Dead As Zelenskyy Accuses Trump Of Abandonment

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has criticized what he described as an “unwillingness” by the United States to provide greater assistance to Ukraine, as reported Russian strikes caused heavy casualties across the country. According to the report, 78 people were killed and 215 injured in attacks over a two-day period, intensifying pressure on Kyiv’s international partners to strengthen their support.

Zelenskyy is urging Washington to expand Ukraine’s access to Starlink satellite communications, increase assistance for air-defence systems and impose tougher sanctions on Moscow. These requests reflect Ukraine’s continued efforts to protect civilians, maintain reliable communications and counter Russia’s ongoing missile and drone attacks.

The reported strikes affected several locations, including Kramatorsk and Kyiv, as well as other regions. The casualties underscore the continuing threat to Ukrainian communities and critical infrastructure as the war persists. Ukrainian officials have repeatedly emphasized the need for stronger air defences to intercept incoming attacks and reduce civilian losses.

Zelenskyy’s criticism also comes amid questions about Washington’s diplomatic engagement with Moscow. Reports of discussions involving potential economic cooperation with Russia have added to Ukrainian concerns about the direction of U.S. policy and whether diplomatic initiatives will be accompanied by sufficient military and economic support for Ukraine.

The Trump administration faces competing challenges as it considers its approach to the conflict, including negotiations, sanctions and assistance to Kyiv. For Ukraine, maintaining international backing remains essential to its ability to resist Russian attacks and defend its territory.

The latest statements highlight continuing differences over how the war should be addressed and what role the United States should play. As attacks continue, Kyiv is pressing Washington for concrete measures, while the broader prospects for diplomacy and a reduction in hostilities remain uncertain.

The casualty figures and details of individual strikes should be independently verified as further information becomes available.
