DHS Auditor Among Victims In Deadly Georgia Shooting Spree

A Department of Homeland Security employee was killed during a violent series of attacks in Georgia that authorities say may be linked to one suspect. The victim, Lauren Bullis, 40, was reportedly walking her dog in Panthersville, near Atlanta, when she was shot and stabbed. Investigators believe her death was part of a broader rampage that left multiple people dead or injured.

Coworkers described Bullis as kind, encouraging, and deeply respected. A colleague said she was the sort of person who quickly became everyone’s friend. Bullis reportedly worked as an auditor and team leader in the DHS Office of Inspector General, where officials praised her integrity, professionalism, and compassion.

Authorities say two other victims were attacked earlier the same day. Prianna Weathers, 31, was fatally shot near a restaurant in Decatur. A third victim, described in reports as a homeless man, was critically injured outside a grocery store in Brookhaven. Police believe the incidents may be connected based on surveillance footage and license plate reader data.

The suspect was identified as Olaolukitan Adon Abel, 26, of Atlanta. Reports state he was originally from the United Kingdom and later became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2022. Authorities arrested him during a traffic stop in Troup County near the Alabama border.

He now faces multiple charges, including two counts of malice murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Investigators say the motive remains unclear, and they have not confirmed whether the victims were specifically targeted or selected at random. At least one attack appears to have been random, according to police statements.

Neighbors said Bullis was known locally for her active lifestyle, often seen running, walking her dog, or gardening. Her family described her as adventurous and caring, noting that she loved travel and had visited countries such as Egypt, Peru, Greece, Spain, Ireland, and France.

The family of Weathers said her death was senseless and mourned the impact on her 12-year-old son. Authorities continue investigating whether the attacks were connected and what may have motivated them.
