Trump Says MRI at Walter Reed Came Back ‘Perfect,’ Dismisses Health Rumors

President Donald Trump said he recently underwent an MRI during a medical evaluation at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and claimed the results were “perfect,” responding to renewed public speculation about his health. Speaking with reporters aboard Air Force One while traveling to Tokyo, Trump described the MRI as part of a routine “semi-annual physical” conducted earlier this month.

Trump joked about the examination and brushed aside questions regarding why the imaging test was ordered. “I did, I got an MRI — it was perfect,” he told reporters, adding that the procedure and machine were “perfect.” When asked why doctors requested the scan, Trump responded simply, “You could ask the doctors.”

According to the White House, the MRI took place on October 10 as part of a broader medical assessment that followed earlier health evaluations, including a full physical examination conducted in April. Trump said his doctors provided him with “some of the best reports for the age” and insisted there were no concerning findings.

The president also connected the issue to his political future, stating that he would not be pursuing another presidential campaign if he believed his health was poor. “If I didn’t think it was going to be good, I wouldn’t run,” Trump said, referencing his planned 2026 re-election campaign.

The comments came amid continued media attention surrounding Trump’s health and physical condition. In recent months, photographs and online rumors about visible bruising on his hands and swelling around his ankles circulated widely on social media and cable news programs. In response, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt previously stated that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common vascular condition affecting many older adults and often associated with leg swelling.

Leavitt emphasized that the condition was manageable and said additional cardiac testing, including an echocardiogram, showed “normal cardiac structure and function.” She also stated there was “zero indication of any cardiovascular impairment” and described Trump’s overall health as excellent.

Trump allies have argued that coverage of the president’s health has been politically motivated. Senior adviser Jason Miller criticized media organizations for questioning Trump’s condition while allegedly minimizing concerns surrounding former President Joe Biden during the final months of his presidency.

Medical experts note that MRIs are commonly used in preventive screenings for older adults, especially individuals with orthopedic, neurological, or vascular concerns. A normal MRI generally indicates no major abnormalities in the brain, spine, or surrounding soft tissue structures.

White House physician Sean Conley has not publicly released detailed results from the MRI but reportedly confirmed that Trump remains in excellent health and continues to meet expected clinical standards for someone his age.

Trump has frequently highlighted energy and stamina as part of his public persona. Before concluding the exchange with reporters aboard Air Force One, he laughed off additional health questions, saying, “You people worry too much. If I didn’t feel great, you’d be the first to know.”

The president is expected to participate in diplomatic meetings in Tokyo before traveling to Seoul later in the week.
