BREAKING: FREEZING RAIN SLAMS …

Powerful ice storm that has left more than 288,000 households without electricity across Tennessee, with some of the worst impacts reported in and around Nashville. Hours of freezing rain have coated roads, trees, power lines, and buildings in thick layers of ice, creating dangerous and rapidly deteriorating conditions.

The weight of the ice has caused widespread damage to utility infrastructure, leading to major power outages affecting hundreds of thousands of residents. Large trees and branches have snapped under the strain, crashing onto vehicles, homes, and power lines. Some residents reported hearing loud cracking and explosive sounds as trees and electrical equipment failed.

Travel has become extremely hazardous as roads have turned into solid sheets of ice, leaving many drivers stranded and making it difficult for emergency crews to reach affected areas. Authorities are urging people to stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary.

Homes and buildings are also under pressure as ice continues to accumulate on rooftops and structures. Officials warn that the ongoing storm could lead to additional damage and prolonged outages. Emergency responders, utility workers, and local officials are working around the clock to restore services and protect residents. One official described the situation as “extremely critical,” highlighting the seriousness of the disaster. Communities across Middle Tennessee are being urged to remain cautious, follow safety guidance, and support first responders as the storm continues.
