Kamala Harris, with tears in her eyes, makes a sad announcement…

Some supporters of Kamala Harris have argued that her election defeat to Donald Trump was largely caused by Joe Biden’s late withdrawal from the race. However, many former Harris campaign staffers reject that explanation, calling it “detached from reality” and suggesting the campaign’s problems ran much deeper.

Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown criticized the campaign’s strategy, arguing that its leadership misread the political environment and failed to learn from past Democratic presidential defeats. Brown said campaign officials did not adequately examine why previous candidates, including Hillary Clinton, were unsuccessful in their bids for the presidency. He suggested they overlooked important questions about voter attitudes and the broader electoral landscape.

According to Brown, the campaign’s inability to correctly assess political realities contributed significantly to the outcome. Rather than focusing solely on Biden’s timing, critics within and around the campaign believe strategic errors, flawed assumptions, and a failure to adapt to voter concerns played a major role in Harris’s loss. Their comments highlight an ongoing debate within Democratic circles over what factors most influenced the election result and what lessons should be learned moving forward.
