Ukraine has taken a notable step in defense cooperation with the United States by exporting Ukrainian-made F10 combat drones to the U.S. military. In July 2026, Ukrainian manufacturer F-Drones received authorization to export 2,000 F10 strike drones, marking the first reported export of finished Ukrainian combat UAVs to the United States. A separate U.S.-Ukraine framework is also being developed to expand testing and production of Ukrainian defense technologies inside the United States.
The proposed strategic exchange goes beyond the initial 2,000-drone shipment. Ukraine and the United States have discussed broader cooperation involving drone production and technology. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also said that political-level agreement had been reached concerning licenses for producing Patriot interceptors, although subsequent reporting indicated that the licensing question remained unsettled.
The F10 deal therefore represents an important shift in the direction of defense technology transfer: Ukraine, while still seeking substantial Western military assistance, is also becoming a supplier of combat-tested unmanned technology to the United States. The longer-term impact will depend on U.S. evaluations, follow-on procurement, production agreements, and the resolution of intellectual-property and technology-transfer issues.
