{-} BREAKING NEWS: MULTI-AGENCY RESPONSE | SR-25 & BLOOMFIELD AVENUE…See more

A major emergency response unfolded south of Gilroy after a fully involved semi-truck fire broke out near the intersection of State Route 25 and Bloomfield Avenue.

Thick black smoke from the blaze was visible across the surrounding area, drawing attention from residents and motorists.

According to emergency officials, the fire quickly spread beyond the truck and ignited nearby vegetation, creating a fast-moving grass fire that increased the complexity of the incident. The intense flames also damaged overhead power lines, adding significant hazards for firefighters and utility crews while raising concerns about public safety and potential power disruptions.

Multiple agencies responded as part of a coordinated regional effort to contain the fire and protect nearby areas. Firefighters from the Santa Clara County Fire Department, Gilroy Fire Department, and Hollister Fire Department worked together to extinguish the truck fire, prevent further spread into surrounding vegetation, and secure the affected area. Their joint response helped manage the challenging conditions caused by the combination of heavy vehicle fire, vegetation fire, and damaged electrical infrastructure.

Additional support was provided by the California Highway Patrol, the Gilroy Police Department, and other partner agencies, which assisted with traffic control, road closures, and ensuring public safety. Authorities closed portions of State Route 25 and Bloomfield Avenue to allow emergency personnel to operate safely and to reduce risks to motorists.

Officials continue to urge drivers to avoid the area and follow official traffic advisories while crews complete firefighting operations, assess damage, and restore safe travel conditions. The duration of the closures has not yet been announced, and motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes until the scene is cleared.

Emergency officials also expressed appreciation for the strong cooperation among all responding agencies, emphasizing that the coordinated regional response played a key role in managing the incident effectively. They also thanked members of the community for their patience and understanding as firefighters and public safety personnel continue their work to ensure the area is safe.
